This article that I found is about how kids today aren't given as many opportunities to be creative. This lack of creativity is leading to kids being, as the article put it, "game players" instead of "game makers". There is too much structure today and kids aren't being as creative. They aren't making up their own games with their own rules, but are instead follow the rules of games that already exist. The article said it's important for us to foster kids' imaginations to help them develop into people who are able and comfortable with coming up with new ideas. I think the article makes a very good point. While you obviously have to have some structure, I think it's also important to also focus on developing the imagination. Otherwise, there will never be anything new.
