C10

I took this class because I am considering getting a minor in design. This class taught me a lot about all the different aspects of design. One thing I didn't like so much was the lack of group work. I know that we have to learn all the basics, but I thought there would have been more group work. I was a little unsure about the blogging, but it ended up being not so bad. Overall I enjoyed the class.

I thought this project went very well. I thought our group worked really well together and came up with a really good product; the firefLITE. Our product went through many design stages. I thought we worked very well together, feeding ideas off one another to come to the final product.  Everyone in the group contributed ideas. One thing we struggled a little with was managing our time and distributing work to everyone. We got everything finished no problem, but I think some stuff was done a little last minute. Overall I think we did a really good job.

This week we wrapped up the little details of our product. We decided to get rid of the solar panels on the lamp because it didn't really make sense to have them. We also finalized the look of the lamp and the packaging. We spent a lot of time on the packaging, coming up with some really creative elaborate ideas like adding seeds in the package that the kids could plant to create their own bug habitat, but we decided that was too much so we opted for a simpler packaging. One of the problems with including seeds and having the kids grow a habitat was it wasn't really concentrating on the indoors. I tried to keep the group thinking about the indoors. We still have a few final touches to make to the presentation but I think we have worked well together and it will turn out good.
